Makore + Flamed Mahogany
"As each of my guitars is built, I'd like to think I give it life"--- Zi Guitar

Makore
Makore wood, also known as African Cherry, is a pinkish-red hardwood native to tropical regions of West and Central Africa. It is known for its dense sound profile similar to Mahogany but with a bit more depth and character. Makore wood is versatile, a sure fire “eye catcher”. Makore wood has a rich warm tonal character with complexity and depth, offering a full, powerful sound with rich overtones and a strong presence in the mid-range. I was very lucky to find this super rare, highly figured Makore wood and enable me to build this AAAA Makore top with one piece walnut body, one piece rosewood neck telecaster.

Flamed Mahogany
"Flamed" mahogany refers to decorative, wavy pattern in the wood's grains. This nature figure is often deep and rich, resembling flames or tiger strips, and its highly prized for its visual appeal. The flame pattern arises from specific cuts, often taken from where a branch meets a trunk, making the wood more expensive and rarer. Even though flames or curls has no tonal influence but surely have all the tonal qualities of mahogany. Warm, woody, and mellow with a strong mid-range presence, mahogany always provides a balanced tone with good sustain.
